Exercise Will Make you Lose Weight

This is up for discussion. Yes, exercise can make you lose weight, however it can also help with gaining weight.

If you’re carrying around a bit of extra fat then incorporating the correct exercises will lead to weight loss. On the other hand, if you’re underweight it can have the opposite effect.

It’s also good to remember, that no weight will be lost if you’re not making the necessary changes to your diet. And the same goes for weight gain. Proper nutrition will fuel your body for your next workout session as well as recovery after the fact.

Deadlifts Are Bad For Your Back

Are they really? Deadlifts are actually one of the most versatile exercises you should be incorporating into your weekly routine.

Today, there are multiple deadlift variations each with different benefits. These variations can be tailored toward your own needs when incorporated into a well-rounded fitness plan.

According to Healthline, deadlifts can actually aid in the reduction of lower back pain. This can only be achieved if using the proper technique and a neutral spine. A study done by the NIH can vouch for this claim.

Exercising Before Work Will Leave Me Feeling Tired

It sounds counterintuitive, but working out before work actually gives you more energy.

Exercise improves circulation and releases a hormone called endorphins. Endorphins are responsible for helping you feel more energized (amongst other things).

Thus expending energy will lead to more energy throughout the day.

People Will Laugh At Me Because I’m Too Fat/Old/Dressing Wrong

Well, not really. People go to the gym to focus on themselves. We’re quite selfish creatures. But this can be beneficial in some cases like hitting the gym.

Ask yourself why you want to hit the gym. Ask your friends. All of the answers will lead to something relating to themselves.

No one will laugh at you, in fact if someone notices you struggling, they’ll be more than happy to assist. It’s happened to me a few times AND I’ve even been able to assist someone else too in the past.

If you’re scared that you might be dressed wrong or inappropriately then ask for a gym guide or “rule book” to assist in what’s appropriate to wear at the gym. 

For instance, flip flops for working out won’t be allowed. Neither would working out in a bikini unless you’re at the gym pool.

Cardio Is The Best Way To Lose Weight

Cardio can assist in weight loss. But it’s not the best way to do so long term.

You’ll have to do some sort of cardiovascular workout everyday to lose calories every day. And you stop burning calories when the workout stops.

This also means that you’ll have to increase the intensity and amount of cardio you do on a weekly basis. This is due to our bodies adapting to the workouts.

Incorporating some sort of strength training into your weekly routine is the best way to burn calories on the day of and at rest. Meaning throughout the day. Lean muscle mass assists in burning calories at rest.
